This Western Diamondback rattlesnake (Crotalus atrox) was trying to get to some shelter as a storm was about to take place. This was shot by Fairview, Oklahoma in May of 2019. Like most rattlesnakes, if given a wide distance and you do not get to close to them, they will try to flee from you.

I used a zoom lens to get some of the up close shots and would never recommend you get close to any venomous snake species. That includes to kill it, you are safer by calling someone with experience for relocation. You can visit many snake groups on Facebook to find out what you can also do to make your property less attractive to snakes.

Basic footage of us taking pictures of a Prairie Rattlesnake found in western Oklahoma in the spring of 2018. We found this amazing snake on a hillside by a creek bed and we also found some Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes there as well. Sadly the footage of them became corrupted and it was not usable for my purposes here.

The Prairie Rattlesnake has a large range across the western United States and is found from Texas into parts of Canada. Probably one of the hardiest of the North American rattlesnakes, the Prairie is the only one I am aware of that can survive the winters of Alberta and Saskatchewan in Canada and also be found as far south as the northern part of Coahuila and Chihuahua in Mexico.
